Interval House is dedicated to providing services to prevent and break the cycle of family and intimate partner abuse. We strive to reach all persons at risk and bring about social change

How to Help

Interval House is proud of our volunteer program and grateful to the hundreds of hours of service each year these dedicated men and women provide to us. Without them we could not do the work we do.

Direct Service volunteers assist in Crisis and Hotline counseling; facilitate support groups; work with the children’s program; and help in the safety and healing process of those women and children who come to Interval House.  Following the interview process and successful background check, each direct service volunteer must complete five days of thorough training.   Volunteers who complete the intensive training will then be certified as Battered Women's Counselors.

Speakers Bureau Training - Interval House offers speakers training sessions for approved volunteers who wish to help with community outreach and education.  After successfully completing this four-hour training session, volunteers are able to speak about domestic violence, Interval House and its history at selected  public events and presentations. This program is under the direction of the Community Educator and all speaking engagements must be approved by him/her.

Third-Party Events (a/k/a Community Fundraising Events) - A third-party fundraising event is any activity by a non-affiliated group or individual where Interval House has no fiduciary responsibility, and little or no staff involvement.   If you have an idea or plan for an event that will benefit Interval House please contact the Development Assistant at 860-246-9149 ext. 337.

Committee participation - Put your particular talent or interest to work at Interval House by serving on a committee such as Development, Annual Gala, CRT/Interval House Women's Golf, etc.

Board Service - Our Board of Directors is all volunteer and meets 6 times a year.  They are involved in such vital agency areas as Governanace, Finance and Fund Raising.  For infomation on Board Service, contact President & CEO Mary-Jane Foster at 860-246-9149 ext. 312.

For more information on the volunteer program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 860-246-9149 ext. 350.

"We support Interval House so women and children will not have to experience stress, fear and violence.  The transition support they offer is priceless - and they are truly changing the future."
